Quiet Times

While things may have been quiet around these parts lately, the world of Phantasm has been anything but quiet! This past weekend saw Don Coscarelli and the entire cast reunite in Chicago for the Flashback Weekend convention. Yours truly was also there manning a table for my new book, Phantasm Exhumed!

Expect a whole slew of photos and videos across the next week as I get it all organized. In the mean time, here's one of my favorite photos from the event as snapped by Scott Pensa. The Tall Man and I spent many an hour working on this tome and I'm mighty proud to finally have him sign my copy.

Also, if you haven't picked up your copy of the book yet... it's only $16.57 right now at Amazon! I'm also finally offering author-signed copies over on the book website.

Phantasm Comic by Lee Davis

Here's a real treat for those of you starving for more Phantasm goodness but unable to wait until Phantasm: Ravager is finally upon us!

Phan and Artist Lee Davis has made available his terrific 26-page comic from 2012 titled Phantasm: Transcendence. It's an action-packed affair that he both wrote and illustrated and includes appearances by Mike, Reggie, Rocky, Liz, Tim and the Tall Man. You can download the entire comic in PDF form from the Archives here. Visit Lee's website to see more of his work here.

The issue mentions being the first in a series of four issues, but this appears to be the only one. Fingers crossed that more issues emerge some day. Surely Phantasm couldn't be so unlucky as to have TWO separate four-issue miniseries stall after the release of the first comic?

If reading a PDF comic isn't your thing, you can watch a video version of it below with introduction from Lee.

NEW RAVAGER PICS: The Battle 'Cuda

Thanks to Instagram user 'mathias76,' we now have a better look at the souped up Battle 'Cuda from the upcoming Phantasm: Ravager! The concept of an armored 'Cuda first appeared in Roger Avary's Phantasm 1999 script, but that project never got off the ground. The recent teaser trailer for Ravager revealed that the concept had been carried over and to great effect - the 'Cuda is still looking wicked. That's Don Coscarelli in the first image. Click either photo to see it larger!

If you're hungry for more Phantasm: Ravager photos and information, why not pick up a copy of my recently released companion book, Phantasm Exhumed? It features an introduction by Angus Scrimm, interviews with more than sixty cast/crew, more than 250 rare photographs and, as already mentioned, an exclusive look at Phantasm: Ravager. It's currently on sale at Amazon for $17.55!

Phantasm Exhumed Book NOW AVAILABLE!

It's been a long time coming, but Phantasm Exhumed is finally available for sale on Amazon. It should be available on a slew of other websites in coming weeks as well as in select specialty bookstores and sketchy backroad gas stations.

This book, the first ever on the making of the franchise, has been a long labor of love on the part of yours truly. It's packing more than 60 interviews, more than 250 rare photos and clocks in at a whopping 268 pages. It boasts introduction and set journals by the Tall Man himself, Angus Scrimm, and features a concluding section on the upcoming Phantasm: Ravager, complete with new behind the scenes photos.

To answer a few frequently asked questions, the eBook versions are in the works now and will feature new color photos not seen in this version. There is also a collector's hardcover color edition in the works for later this year, but this will be very limited in quantity and priced as such due to the materials used.

Lastly, a handful of people have surprisingly inquired about obtaining copies signed by the author (me). I'm happy to sell signed copies, but I won't have my giant stockpile of books until early May. If you're cool waiting that long, drop me an email to get one.

FIRST TEASER for PHANTASM RAVAGER

And here we go...

Phantasm Exhumed EXCERPTS

Not that anyone would believe it in light of the Phantasm: Ravager news, but it had been my intention all day long to post the first excerpts from my upcoming book, PHANTASM EXHUMED, here on the Archives. I even teased that they were coming a week ago on Phantasm Community! But no matter. Here they are!

Below you will find two-page excerpts from the four chapters on the first four Phantasm films. The final page count equals out to 258 pages with more than 260 rare photographs! The pages breakdown to equal 20 pages for Jim the World's Greatest and Kenny & Company, 60 pages for Phantasm, 60 pages for Phantasm II, 50 pages for Phantasm III, 44 pages for Phantasm: Oblivion and 13 pages for the various Phantasm V sequels - including a page on Phantasm: Ravager!!!

UPDATED - Phantasm: Ravager

Phantasm V is real and is happening!!! Ain't It Cool has debuted the teaser poster to your right.

And for the record... the Phantasm Archives broke news and gave the first picture from this project back in 2009! No one has much been listening, though. Now that it's official... have a look back at the original scoop.

Details are scant on the project right now, so here is just a tiny bit more than what all the other websites are reporting:

• To reiterate, this project has been filming little by little since 2008.
• The original working title for several years was "Reggie's Tales."
• The original cast members put in appearances along with some Don Coscarelli regulars.
• It was partly filmed in Crestline, CA at Reggie Bannister's own home!
• Many of the familiar series elements are back... the 'Cuda and the sphere especially. Oh, yes... there will be blood!

UPDATE: It looks like one cast member has stepped forward! If this doesn't get you excited..... (anybody notice that this means the Lady in Lavender has been in all of the odd-numbered Phantasm movies?)
