The Birth.Movies.Death website has unveiled a gorgeous new poster for Phantasm Remastered featuring young Mike falling through the Red Planet sky, the Tall Man and Lady in Lavender looking scary just above him. This amazing new artwork was created by artist Aaron Lea. You'll recall that Lea also created the striking teaser poster for Phantasm Ravager several years back.
The website is giving five of them away in a contest, but also mentions that the poster will soon be up for sale on the official Phantasm website. They have also published a new interview with Don Coscarelli concerning Phantasm Remastered.

VIDEO: Phantasm III on MTV's The Real World
Today we get to watch something elusive that has long been rumored amongst Phantasm phans, but never actually materialized online. During the making of Phantasm III, the second season of MTV's The Real World reality series was said to have paid a visit to set and even featured the sequel in one of the episodes!
Thanks to super-phan and Protagonist lead singer Peter Marullo, we now have that episode! In this clip, cast member Beth talks about helping out on film sets doing "menial labor." We're then shown her standing by with paper towels as legendary effects supervisor Mark Shostrom and partner Dean Gates execute one of the Demon Nurse effects. Messy stuff! Beth seems to imply the sphere bursting from the nurse's head was somehow anticlimactic? Was she watching the same effect I was? Or maybe she's just seen head-bursting-spheres before and this is no big deal.

Reggie's Ice Cream Shop to Appear on CNBC's The Profit
The delightful Fosselman's Ice Cream Shop in Alhambra, California, better known to phans as the interior of Reggie's Ice Cream Shop from the Phantasm deleted scene, will make an appearance in an upcoming episode of CNBC's The Profit on the August 23rd episode. They seem to have cleaned up the store nicely since Mike, Jody and Reggie had their drunken food fight so many years ago. Remarkably, the store still looks much the same as it did then, featuring many of the same decorations, light fixtures and signs as almost seen in Phantasm.
Thanks to super-phan Scott Pensa for the news alert! You can see some of Fosselman's in the video below.

Bubba Ho-Tep getting Scream Factory Collector's Edition
Don Coscarelli's cult-classic Bubba Ho-Tep is getting the Collector's Edition treatment from Scream Factory this November 8th. Extras haven't been announced yet, but you can be sure they will be impressive. The distributor has released the new artwork, however, and it is fantastic!
If you've never seen this movie, you're really missing out on a great time. If nothing else, the flick is of great interest to phans for featuring several Phantasm series cast members including Reggie Bannister, Bob Ivy and Heidi Marnhout. Bubba also features three cast members from the upcoming Phantasm Ravager with Daniel Roebuck, Daniel Schweiger and Cean Okada!

Phantasm Ravager Runtime/World Premiere Revealed
Today brings forth several news items regarding the long-awaited Phantasm Ravager. The first news item is that the film will be holding its world premiere at the famous Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas late this September. Word is that Don Coscarelli will be in attendance for the special event. With any luck, director/co-writer David Hartman and some of the cast will be on hand as well.
The festival's official description reads: Phantasm Ravager is the concluding chapter of Don Coscarelli’s always independent, unexpected and subversive Phantasm film series. After spanning four decades, Phantasm Ravager completes the story of intrepid ex-ice cream vendor Reggie (Reggie Bannister, a veteran of all five Phantasm films) in his lifelong pursuit of his nemesis, the malevolent Tall Man. In this final entry, Reggie is forced to confront the mysteries of death which always lie at the dark heart of the Phantasm saga. With actor Angus Scrimm’s recent passing, Phantasm Ravager stands as the final on-screen acting performance of this iconic horror star. For the first time, Phantasm creator Don Coscarelli has turned over the directing reins to a new, first-time director in Emmy-nominated animator David Hartman. The entire original cast is back including A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, Kat Lester and Angus Scrimm.
The other big news item is that we now officially know how long Phantasm Ravager will be... and that is 87-minutes long. This makes it the shortest film in the entire series, but not by much since Phantasm movies usually clock in around the 90-minute mark. (Because you're surely wondering, Phantasm II is the longest Phantasm with a 97-minute runtime.)
(Thanks to Peter Marullo for the scoops!)
